Madroña Chardonnay is an elegant and complex wine with no one aroma or flavor dominating. The selected level of malolactic secondary fermentation depends on the vintage -- the goal always being a wine exhibiting exceptional acid balance and a crisp, lingering finish.
Using the great Rieslings of Germany as our inspiration, this variety has become a specialty of the winery. A long, cool fermentation preserves the complex array of fruit and floral qualities found in our grapes.
Modeled after the dry, full-bodied Gewürztraminers of Alsace, our version consistently exhibits an intense rose-petal character, accented by hints of citrus and spice.
Madroña's vines produce well balanced fruit bursting with cherry, raspberry and violet notes with virtually no herbaceous characters…the way Cabernet Franc should be.
Nebbiolo, an Italian varietal also known as a Barolo or Barbaresco, is a wine with good color and a palate with rich texture and an identifiable strawberry/plum fruit.
Madroña's high elevation contributes to a distinctive complexity in our Merlot. There are usually notes of currant, plum, cherry and tea-leaf, with hints of toasty oak.
Madroña's Cabernet Sauvignon is a striking example of what a high mountain vineyard can produce. The grapes are very small-berried resulting in a wine of deep color, intense fruit, and full-bodied texture.
Our supple and full-bodied Zinfandel consistently displays intense raspberry, black pepper, and spice aromas along with flavors which make it classic El Dorado Zinfandel.
Our Late Harvest Zinfandel is always an extremely intense expression of Zinfandel varietal character. At the high-sugar levels common at harvest, this wine almost always stops fermenting on its own, producing an unfortified wine with a port-like richness.
Porto is a sweet, fortified dessert wine made from native Portuguese varieties harvested from the steep mountain cliffs of the Duoro River Valley. Rich in nature, Port pairs with strong flavors like dark cocoa or blue cheese.
