Winery of the Month at Sierra At Tahoe in February
If you haven't been skiing yet in 2010, the skiing is fantastic this year. And if you haven't been skiing up at Sierra at Tahoe, then we suggest some therapy for you.
Sierra at Tahoe is not only our closest resort, but their commitment to a greener future of sustainability fits exactly into our feelings. And that's why we've been working with them for over 15 years. (Our 1987 Cabernet Sauvignon was their first Sierra at Tahoe labeled wine!)
Each season, Sierra has a "Winery of the Month" progam where the wines poured in the Pub are from one of you favorite local wineries. Lava Cap is January, Madroña is February, Boeger is March and Crystal Basin is April.
In February on each Wednesday, Madroña will be tasting wines in the Pub from 3-4 pm, a perfect time to relax after a great day of skiing. And on February 17th from 1-2:30 pm, we will be having our annual luncheon, pairing our wines with the bar-b-q specialties of Sierra's Smokehouse 360 at the top of the mountain. You can RSVP with Sierra at Tahoe. Look for more information soon, and as always pray for more snow in mountains.

Thank You!!!
We just wanted to thank all
of you for a fantastic year. Thank you for your support, thank you for
your patience and thank you for letting us do what we love to do...make
wine and talk.
When it comes down to it,
quality of life is everything, and we get to farm in one of the most
beautiful places in the world. Without you, this would not be possible.
We hope for you and all the
world peace, understanding. love, and a spectacular 2010.
From all of us at Madroña

An
Evening of Black Label Wines and the Sacramento Philharmonic
January
29th, 2010 6-8 pm
Tickets
$50/person RSVP necessary
As if
the title didn't just say it all, we will be hosting the Sacramento
Philharmonic in the winery's cellar on January 29th, 2010. This is a
continuing series of incredible music, great wine and great food.
If you
haven't yet had the chance to experience our Black Label Series of
concert, you are in for a delightful eveing. The winery is positively
elegant, with all the barrels holding candles. The acoustics are
spectacular, and the perfomance is both powerful and intimate. The
January concert showcases a brass quintet, highighting the diversity of
the instruments with a variety of classical and modern musical pieces.
Hey Day
Café will be pairing exquisite foods (which we tasted last week) with our unfiltered and unfined
Black Label wines, including our new 2006 Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon.
It's a
phenomial experience for the food/wine/music lover in all of us, and an
opportunity seldom seen outside of the city!

The 2009 Crush
As many of you know, I think the 2009 harvest looks like a pretty nice vintage. I'm still very excited about the Merlot and Syrah (if you've read some of what I've already written), but I just finished tasting through our six different Zinfandel lots from 2009. Zin lovers be prepared! Each lot is unique, some more elegant, some more bold, but every lot tastes fantastic. And they're only 2-3 months old.
That makes making wine fun!
Cheers
