Do you ever end up with excess of a variety that just doesn't fit anywhere? What would you do with that? Can you sell it in bulk to another winery?

For those of you considering this next year: Do it! It is a unique experience that will fill your senses and provide you with a new appreciation for the patience that goes into winemaking. As our circle worked in the midst of the vineyards, chatting and de-stemming each luscious grape, we felt very happy to be part of this experiment. We look forward to tasting this grain par grain lot. (And yes, we'd do it again!)

We were honored to try one of the first filterings of this amazing project. My husband and I would love to be part of next year's "event" and I really look forward to the finished wine!

I would love to come and help next year. I have always wondered if there was a way that I could experience working at a vineyard for a short period of time. I know a few other friends in Reno that would relish to opportunity as well. Just let me know when to come!

If you want volunteers this would be a great EDHWM home wine maker event...one that we could more easily duplicate for ourselves later on when we pick our smaller batches. I still plan on continuing on as Vice President next year and Rogeen Contrite is the event planner again...this would be a fun "event" for us.

Thanks,
Nicole

Hi Paul and Maggie

I wish I had this article a month ago, but you were doing all of this at the same time, I was in my little wine making efforts. I didn't have the heat high enough in the shop during fermintation and the tannins in the Cab Sauv are high, we will see after malolacic but I am thinking it will take some time laying down before this wine is ready... Thanks for the article, it will be in my libary for future reference, have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Ken and Debbie

PS, Cool Machine:)

Not to worry. One thing that we learned in France is that even if we wanted to make a Cahors Malbec, we can't. Nor can they make a California Malbec!
Instead, be proud of the unique aspects of our region, which we are!
