2004 Chardonnay (Special Release Club)
Classic Madroña Chardonnay, this wine has found that perfect balance between crisp ripe apple fruit and creamy tropical richness. Add to this just a pinch of vanilla spice, and we think you’re tasting our best Chardonnay since 1993. And that’s saying a lot!
2004 Gewürztraminer
Our dry Alsatian-styled Gewürztraminer is the quintessential holiday wine with turkey and smoked meats. Intensely aromatic yet wonderfully complex, the nose abounds with characters of rose petals infused ginger tea. (It’s true!) The palate follows with bright ruby grapefruit flavors balanced by a rich full-bodied texture. This ain’t your mother’s Gewürzt.
2003 Cabernet Franc
I could love this young wine for just the nose alone. Incredibly complex with layers of lavender and violets, the aromas are amazingly floral and spicy. Although the palate, based on deep dark cherry fruit with just a hint of ripe raspberry, is equally enticing. And the finish is all Cab Franc. Decant this wine before dinner and savor how it opens up.
2003 Reserve Syrah
Not the tutty-fruity style for which California is known, instead this wine is everything you look for in cool-climate Syrah. The 2003 vintage is a dense, pitch-black wine with an incredibly well-balanced palate. Not only does it showcase the gamy spiciness of the great Rhônes, it also interweaves the ripe blueberry and black cherry fruit for which the best vintages are hallmarked. Just an incredible wine.
2002 Late Harvest Zinfandel
Once again, balance is the name of the game. Dark, brooding cherry fruit, characters of blackberries picked at their ripest, hints of cloves and nutmeg ... all this is balanced by the 1.5% residual sugar and 17.1% alcohol. Stylistically, the 2002 vintage is reminiscent of the 1981 and 1988 vintages, making it the ideal wine for those late night chats in front of the fireplace. Enjoy!
