September 7, 2005, CAMINO, CA—Madroņa Vineyards Winemaker and Vineyard Manager Paul Bush revealed an image update today, starting with a bright new package designed to show off the vibrancy of this second-generation family business. While retaining the iconic image of the Madrone tree that has graced the brands label for the past 15 years, the new label is a colorful departure from the previous version, which the winery determined was too dark to stand out on crowded store shelves and in dimly lit restaurants.
The new package has added the words Estate Grown under the Madroņa Vineyards name. Besides wanting something more colorful, more expressive of the fun and energy we feel is essential to what we do here, we wanted to emphasize Estate Grown up front and center on the new label, says Bush, who runs the winery with his wife Maggie Bush. We believe that sets us apart from other wineries in California. We actually grow our grapes in our vineyards and make our own wines. And thats becoming less common.
Another issue the update addressed was the mishmash of bottle sizes and label designs on the extraordinary variety of wines coming from Madroņas cellars. The new design remains consistent across the board, but utilizes a simple color system to help wine lovers easily recognize the wines.
Core red wines (Zinfandel, Syrah and
Nebbiolo): purple and blue
Core white wines (Gewurtztraminer and
Riesling): forest green and chartreuse
Core Chardonnay: forest green and gold
Reserve reds (Syrah, Zinfandel, Quintet
blend): violet and blue
Reserve whites (Dry Riesling, Ménage blend): loden and sage
All labels for the core line are distinguished by the silver
foil stamping that embellishes the text and the Madrone tree on the label.
The Reserve line is signified by matte gold foil stamping.
Located in the heart of El Dorado Wine Country in California, Madroņa Vineyards has been producing small lots of award-winning wines for over 25 years. The Bush family enjoys making it fun for their guests to Get Into Wine.
